Gismonda was Mucha's fi rst poster and its appearance on the streets of Paris simultaneously launched the Art Nouveau movement into high gear, and re-ordered the way people thought of posters, which - until this image came along - were always smaller in size and utilized brighter, eye-catching colors, rather than a subtle pastel pallete.
