GOTTA HAVE A GIMMICK IF YOU WANT TO GET AHEAD (HOUDINI, HARRY.) Kennedy, Charles S. Autograph Note Signed, to Dunninger, stating that as Houdini's physician he was the last person to see him alive; with a manuscript note by Dunninger beneath the doctor's. 1 page, 8vo; on promotional note paper. - Notes: a real houdini curiousity. Dr. Kennedy was the physician in attendance at Houdini's death. It is unclear as to why he penned the following note, "Oct. 7, 1959. To Dunninger from the last person to see Harry Houdini, his beloved friend & colleague, alive. He passed on Nov. 30, 1927 from peritonitis the result of a ruptured appendix & I was at his side. Chas. S. Kennedy." The doctor's note is quite faded and barely legible. Beneath the doctor's note Dunninger has penned, "The date should have read Oct 30 1926 - Dr Kennedy was in error - Joseph Dunninger 1968." Dr. Kennedy was certainly an old man when he wrote the note, but he seems to have seized on Houdini's death as his claim to fame.
