- Notes: No other record has been found of this presentation binding, which is embossed with representations of the gold medal presented to Grant by "Joint Resolution of Congress December 17 1863," depicting Grant in profile on the front cover of each volume, and an allegorical depiction of the Mississippi River on the back covers.
