  • Notes: first edition. A very good copy in a bright, crisp jacket and the basis for the 1947 film starring Tyrone Power. "...Nightmare Alley, the unremitting and darkest of noirs, is about nothing less than how to make a [carnival] geek" (Smiley, Books into Film, pp. 123-26).
