accomplished in manuscript, relative to the military career of Thomas Scott, who served in Company 26, 39th Colored Infantry. 3 pages, on small 4to sheets; 2 franked with revenue stamps. Wilmington, NC or Baltimore, 1865

Notes: Document of discharge. 04 December 1865 * Bounty Document, paying $50 to William Lyons on behalf of Scott. 13 December 1865 * Document of attestation, Signed by two "respectable white citizens," stating that Scott was a volunteer in the regiment. 20 December 1865.
Together, a nice group showing the process of mustering out and the collection of "bounty" payments for enlistment. William Lyons was an agent working on behalf of Scott, and he received a monetary commission for his efforts.
