H. RICHARDSON CREMER (active 1920s-40s) Portrait of Margaret Bourke-White with her camera.

H. RICHARDSON CREMER (active 1920s-40s)
A portrait of Margaret Bourke-White with her camera. Silver prints, the images measuring 9 7/8x7½ inches (25.1x19.1 cm.). Circa 1935

  • Condition: This striking portrait of the important photographer Margaret Bourke-White is in very good condition. The tones of the print are sepia and rich, with deep blacks, creamy highlights, and velvety detail.

The surface is overall bright and neat, but does show a patina of silvering in the dark areas of the work. There is a tiny hard diagonal crease at the far upper right corner, but this is minor (there are no margins on the print). The edges of the image area, in the dark silvering, show a couple faint smudges from handling or processing, but these are also not distracting and not obtrusive.

Print verso is clean and bright. Depicting Bourke-White with strength and beauty, this is an illustrative portrait of the great photographer.
