Canoers, riders and motorists all enjoying the breathtaking vistas and "scenic marvels" of the American West. During the 1930s, as American railroad companies scrambled to advertise their brand new streamlined trains, "a coalition of nearly thirty railroads [out West] pooled their resources against the auto and introduced the 'Travel By Train' campaign. Their cooperative effort produced nearly a dozen posters portraying a range of national destinations. Most notable were New York's Fifth Avenue by Fred Mizen and western landscapes by Denver artist H.M. Veenstra" (Zega p. 109).
