Haiti. Taylor, J.E. Black and white pen and brush gouache drawing of Santo Domingo. Signed in the lower left corner and dated 1871 18x 22. 25 inches; backed with heavy stock; couple of large chips at margins not affecting the main image; part of signature torn away, but legible. Depicts celebration of some sort with great detail. Though the work is dated 1871, this possibly depicts the installation of Nissage-Saget in 1870 Nissage-Saget lasted 4 years, a long term in this ever turbulent nation's history.
