HAMBURG-AMERIKA LINIE [ORINOCO]. Circa 1935.
33 1/2x24 3/4 inches. Mühlmeister & Johler, Hamburg.
Condition B+: repaired tears, creases and overpainting in margins.
Little information exists about the two-funneled ship Orinoco. Clearly she was part of the Hamburg-Amerika Line's South American route, as the Spanish text indicates. The name, taken from the 2575 kilometer long Venezuelan river, was a popular one for ships, as a British freighter bearing the same name has found her way into the history books by ramming into Germany's mighty Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse in 1907.
