HANS FALK (1918-2002) PKZ. 1944.
50 1/4x35 1/4 inches. Wolfsberg, Zurich.
Condition A-: creases in margins. Paper.
Hans Falk's unique style is immediately recognizable in posters. More of an illustrator than a poster designer, it turns out that his brilliant sense of layout works marvelously in the large poster format. Here an impeccably groomed tailor (recognizable by the measuring tape around his neck) is offering an overcoat to a client for a fitting. The image is classy and elegant, and ingeniously suggestive, in that the PKZ label (the only text on the poster) is visible on the coat. Falk actually designed another project for PKZ, a scene at the horse races, which was never published (International Poster Annual 1948-49, no. 370.) Swiss Posters no. 23, p. 49, Schweiz p. 138.
