HANS (JEAN) ARP (1886-1966) LES PREMIERS MAITRES DE L'ART ABSTRAIT. 1949.
25 1/4x18 inches, 64x45 3/4 cm. Mourlot, Paris.
Condition A-: repaired tears and overpainting in lower margin; minor creases and abrasions in margins and image.
The Museum of Grenoble, under the direction of Andre Farcy (the first French curator to systematically begin collecting Contemporary Art), has amassed an outstanding collection of works by major French painters. For this show in Paris of the early masters of abstract art drawn from the Museum's collection, Arp created this original lithograph (not a design after one of the artist's paintings as was customary with most exhibition posters).
