HAROLD "DOC" EDGERTON (1903-1990) Milk Drop Coronet. 1957; printed 1979.

HAROLD "DOC" EDGERTON (1903-1990)
Milk Drop Coronet. 1957; printed 1979.
Chromogenic print, the image measuring 7x6 inches (17.8x15.2 cm.), the sheet 9x8 inches (22.8x20.3 cm.), with Edgerton's signature in ink on recto; enclosed in the original black mat.

WITH--Harold E. Edgerton and James R. Killian, Jr. Moments of Vision: The Stroboscopic Revolution in Photography. Illustrated with numerous reproductions of Edgerton's groundbreaking imagery as well as the scientist at work. Oblong 4to, black boards; photo-pictorial dust jacket, very minor rubbing on rear; enclosed in the original lucite slipcase. SPECIAL EDITION, SIGNED BY EDGERTON AND KILLIAN. (The MIT Press), (1979)

  • Condition: Harold Edgerton's "Milk Drop Coronet" (1957; printed 1979) is in excellent condition. The chromogenic print is clean, neat, and bright, with a lustrous surface. The whites have warmed somewhat, but this is minor and consistent with the print's age. The print is tipped to the original black mat. With Edgerton's signature in ink on recto.

This special edition presentation is accompanied by Edgerton's book Moments of Vision: The Stroboscopic Revolution in Photography. This book is in very good condition. The black boards are neat and tidy. The binding is overall tight, but appears to be starting just slightly at the rear hinge. This is minor, and goes largely unnoticed. The dust jacket is bright and crisp, with just tiny and isolated areas of wear at the tips of the outer corners and a small bump at the edge of the front and rear flaps. The book is signed by Edgerton and James R. Killian, Jr.

The book and print are enclosed in the original lucite slipcase. This shows the expected light shelf wear, and one of the seams has split, but very neatly. It retains its structure and overall appearance of neat elegance.

Overall a very fine example of this title accompanied by Edgerton's iconic image of the splashing milkdrop.
