HARRISON FISHER.
At the train station. Illustration for an unidentified story, 1909. Graphite and wash on board. 965x740 mm; 38x29 inches. Signed with flourish in lower left image and dated. Repaired crack in board at upper right; full condition provided in report.

The Verso contains the ownership signature of Dr. Guy Ellison, chemist and President of Van Horn & Co, New York City's first upscale drug store, which he ran with his brother-in-law, Alfred Van Horn, on East 41st Street at the turn of the century. Legal issues caused them to declare bankruptcy and reorganize the business, which was ultimately purchased by Johnson & Johnson.
