Color screenprint, circa 1940. 420x510 mm; 16 5/8x20 inches, full margins. Published by the Federal Arts Project, WPA, New York. Intended edition of 35, but thought to be much rarer. Signed in pencil lower right within the image, and inscribed, Another Day, in pencil, lower margin.

Gottlieb is best known for his work in the silkscreen medium, which he helped pioneer as a fine art medium under the Works Progress Administration (WPA) Print Division in the 1930s and 40s. This is an exceedingly rare and important silkscreen done by a pioneer in the silkscreen process. A highly impressive and large scale print depicting figures in an industrial landscape, considered among the artists best work.
Gottlieb's silkscreens produced for the FAP, WPA are in several important musem collections.

  • Condition: Appears to be in overall good condition, aside from small area of tearing in the bottom right margin, slightly breaking the image line, approximately 1 inch. Light handling creases to the extreme sheet edges.

    Sheet is irregularly trimmed along the bottom edge and hinged to back mat along top edge.

    Image is bright and clear, with slight ink cracking in the black ink and blue ink along top edge.
