Color woodcut on artificial Japan paper, 1972. 292x393 mm; 11 1/2x15 1/2 inches, full margins. Artist''s proof, aside from the edition of 20. Signed, titled, dated and inscribed "Ver 1a" and "AP" in pencil, lower margin. A very good impression with fresh, strong colors.
Inspired by a visit to the artist Walter Williams, Hartwell Yeargans moved to Copenhagen, Denmark in 1971, and he lived and worked there until his return to New York in 1981. Today his prints and paintings are found in such permanent collections as the Ballerup Raadhus, Denmark, Frederiksberg Skolen, Copenhagen, the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, Georgetown University, Washington DC, and the DuSable Museum, Chicago.
