Henri C Pieck 1895-1972 56-35 Jaarbeurs/Utrecht. 1936 39.25 x 29.75 inches. Condition A-: repaired tears along top margin. Pieck was one of the very talented architects and designers who worked in Holland between the wars. The Utrecht Fair was a major industrial event in Europe and always utilized excellent posters from top designers for promotional purposes. Pieck designed at least two posters for Utrecht and in both of them, he used his architect's vision to create huge, modernistic factories, with the lettering grouped at the bottom. An extremely bold and powerful image. ref. The Modern Dutch Poster by Stephen S. Prokopoff, M.I.T. Press, Cambridge, 1987 - p. 117, no.82, another Utrecht poster.
