First edition, octavo; illustrated with a wood-engraved vignette of Thoreau's cabin to title and map of Walden Pond opposite page 307; bound in blind-stamped brown publisher's cloth, spine gilt-lettered, with the inverted comma after "Co," on the spine, cream endpapers (lacking advertisements at rear, scattered spots and pale stains, occasional pencil annotations; rebacked, endpapers renewed, rubbed, corners exposed); with an autograph letter signed from a tour guide at the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery addressed to Percy Holmes Boynton asking him to clarify a detail of Thoreau's life debated amongst the tour guides, dated October 13, 1924 adhered to rear pastedown; 7 x 4 3/8 in.
