HENRY MOORE (1898-1986) Detail of the sculpture Draped Seated Woman, 1957-58.

HENRY MOORE (1898-1986)
Detail of the sculpture Draped Seated Woman, 1957-58. Silver print, the image measuring 9x12 inches (22.9x30.5 cm.), with Moore's credit stamp and the title, material, and creation date of the sculpture, two Rembrandt-Verlag GmbH stamps, and numerous printing notations, on verso. Circa 1967

Provenance: Collection of Rembrandt Verlag GmbH (publisher of Henry Moore's Shelter Sketch Book, Berlin, 1967, with facsimile collotypes of 80 drawings); to Robert Mann Gallery, 2004; to the Joseph Lichtenberg Collection; by descent to the Present Owner

  • Condition: Moore's photograph of a detail of a sculpture is in excellent condition. The surface of the print is textural, with fine detail and rich tonal variety.

The sheet is slightly rippled and the surface of the print evidences a few scattered faint handling marks under close examination and strong raking light. This is minor. Otherwise, the print is lustrous and neat.

Its verso shows remnants of previous mounting, residue, and archival tape.

A compelling abstract composition of the drape.
