Plates. 8vo, publisher's blue cloth with a photographic inset of Henson on the front cover, lettering on the backstrip a bit faded, else a better than average copy. New York: Stokes, 1912
- Notes: first edition. Born in Baltimore, Henson first went to sea at the age of 13 in 1879. Peary hired him in 1884 and Henson spent the next 25 years travelling with him, including 8 journeys to the Arctic regions and the famed trip to the North Pole in 1909. Henson's contributions were acknowledged in 1937 when he was inducted as an honorary member of the Explorer's Club. After subsequent honors by Congress, Presidents Truman and Eisenhower and the Geographical Society of Chicago, Henson died in New York in 1955.
