  • Condition: This small archive of photographs by the New York photographer Herbert Mitchell is in very good to excellent condition. Overall the images are clean, bright, and neat, with strong contrasting tonalities and clear, handsome compositions. The photographs appear largely unhandled with an excellent presentation.

The slight imperfections noted here are largely unobtrusive. Many of the photographs don't have margins, and some occasionally show tiny, superficial chips at the extreme edges. In only a couple of instances is this immediately apparent. One evidences foxing across the image area. And one shows soiling in the margin that extends into the image area. One shows a small spot of retouching that has discolored.
