(1887-1953) / (1885-1952)

Life's Darkest Moment: Training School for Dogs. 1951.

Publication:
Cartoon first published April 1st, 1951 (during Webster's lifetime, and likely with his input), and later reprinted May 13th, 1958.
13 1/2 x 12 1/4 in. (34.3 x 31.1 cm.)

  • Provenance:
    Private collection, Connecticut.

    Other notes:
Original Life's Darkest Moment single panel cartoon by Herb Roth, the longtime ghost artist for H.T. Webster. The cartoon features an adorable dog leaving Training School with a less-than-stellar report card: "C in Aptitude" and "D in Deportment."
  • Condition: Mild soil and handling wear appropriate for its age. The title strip for the later printing is partially detached, but can easily be pasted back in place if the new owner so chooses.
