After serving 3 years as a yeoman in WWI, he attended various colleges, earned several degrees, and studied with Leslie Pinckney Hill, who encouraged him to write. Includes: letters, cards, 2 albums of recorded poetry, programs, and 4 of his books-all first editions. Two are signed: Two Ways, and Other Stories (1959); and Who's Who in the American Negro Press, 1960. 49 Poems (1968) is inscribed to Ethel Harrison; and Black Notes (1970). From the estate of Ethel Harrison, friend of the Windishes and Hill's life-long friend.
