HOCKNEY, DAVID; and POSNER, DAVID. A Rake's Progress. 16 plates reproduced after Hockney's etchings set to poem by Posner. Folio, black cloth

HOCKNEY, DAVID; and POSNER, DAVID. A Rake's Progress. 16 plates reproduced after Hockney's etchings set to poem by Posner. Folio, black cloth lettered in grey, metal-backed spine, scattered moderate wear; scattered soiling (by Posner) on some leaves, heaviest at beginning; errata sheet laid in. London: Lion and Unicorn Press, 1967

  • Notes: signed by hockney and posner, inscribed by posner, with numerous corrections. Posner, upset with the outcome of the final poem in the book under the section "The Hero in Bedlam" heavily corrected six pages in blue and black ink, altering the text considerably, striking the dedication to Piers Rodgers, and naming it "The Man on East Ferry Street." As this volume was a gift to a student friend of his, Posner laid in a final corrected typed version for him, though he still made 14 smaller corrections to it, in ink. A wonderful collaboration between Hockney and Posner and a unique copy expressing the poet's unsettled thoughts on his creation.
