HOUDINI GUEST REGISTER (HOUDINI, HARRY.) Visitor's Register kept by the Houdini family at their 113th St. address, kept during a brief period by Houdini and apparently continued after his death by Marie Hinson; including the signatures of family members and the best known magicians of the day. 60 pages of signatures. Folio, original cloth; some soilng to first several leaves, several leaves loose; bookplate of Houdini, ownership signature of Marie and John Hinson. Formerly in the collection of the Houdini Magical Hall of Fame, Niagara Falls, Canada. New York, 1919-75
- Notes: First page of the register was kept for family members: Houdini, Beatrice Houdini, Hardeen, Elsie Hardeen, Gladys Weiss Houdini, Alberta M. Weiss, Harry Houdini Hinson, Henrietta White (Weiss), Marie Ralmer Hinson, John Adam Hinson, and Lwilhrinor Rurhner (Bess Houdini's mother, and apparently the only known signature of Bess' mother). The following 8 pages were filled in during Houdini's lifetime and include the signatures of: Edwin Brush, Lustig (La Vellma), Eggleston, Zancig, F. E. Powell, Nate Leipzig, Great Leon, John Mulholland, Harlan Tarbell, Leo Rullmann, Al Baker, Elmer Ransom, Theodore Deland, Horace Goldin, Oscar Teale, Jean Hugard, and others. After Houdini's death additional magicians signed: Howard Thurston, James Collins, Frank Ducrot, Dai Vernon, and others. At some point after Houdini's death the register must have been moved to Marie Hinson's home. Most of the signatures from the 1920s and 1930s have nothing to do with magic.
