HOUDINI, HARRY. Typescript of a lecture on Spiritualism, given on numerous occasions by Houdini, and by Oscar Teale after Houdini's death. 8 pages, 4to; with inked additions throughout in Teale's hand. Accompanied by 45 modern copy slides taken from the original slides used by Houdini in his lecture. Np, circa 1920

  • Notes: Complete lecture which Houdini used with the accompaniment of photographic slides. The lecture is short but Houdini covers a lot of ground and mentions a number of spiritualists and others associated with spiritualism: the Fox sisters, William Eglinton, the Davenports, Paladina, and Harry Kellar. The lecture itself consists of 6 typed pages. The additional 2 pages are a list of the slides used during the presentation. Oscar Teale used this lecture without substantive changes after Houdini's death. Throughout the manuscript Teale inked in the changes necessary to make it sound like his own lecture.
