With original envelope bearing Hughes's Cleveland address, but postmarked Los Angeles. Los Angeles, 4 June 1937 E800/1,200 IN PART: "Dear Miss Warrick-I thought you might like to have this about Still with whom I'm now working on an opera (and I do remember meeting you in New York the day before Mulatto opened!)." Warrick, prominent Philadelphia journalist and historian, was a descendant of one of Philadelphia's oldest free black families. [SEE ILLUSTRATION OVERLEAF]
