HUGO FELDTMANN (DATES UNKNOWN) NORDDEUTSCHER LLOYD BREMEN. Circa 1930.
34x24 inches, 86 1/2x61 cm. Wilhm Jontzen, Bremen.
Condition B+: minor restored losses, tears, creases, slight discoloration and restoration at edges.
The sister ships Bremen and Europa were launched in 1929 and 1930, respectively. In her first year, the Bremen regained the highly vaunted Blue Ribband, for the ship that made the fastest Atlantic crossing. The sister ships, along with a third vessel, Columbus, were often depicted in attractive Art Deco posters. Little is known about Feldtmann except for a large number of posters he designed for the German shipping company Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen. This is the French version. Weallans p. 125.
