[181] (of [182]) leaves, including initial and final blanks but lacking blank a1. Gothic type. Printed in red and black in tabular form, with white-on-black woodcut initials. 4to, 233x166 mm, contemporary blind-tooled calf over wooden boards with 18th-century lettering piece, brass catches, lacking clasps, skillfully recased with spine ends restored; marginal dampstaining mainly at beginning and end with paper corrosion in blank lower outer corner of initial blank and first leaf of table, single small wormhole through opening leaves minimally affecting text, contents otherwise generally clean. Bound at end are 2 paper leaves from 15th-century legal and commercial documents. (Venice: Erhard Ratdolt, 13 September 1483)

  • Notes: Second edition of a synoptic world history first published circa 1475-76, here enlarged to cover the years 1449-81. The entry for 1457 on v3v contains the third published reference to Johann Gutenberg as the inventor of printing, after those in the 1474 Chronica of Riccobaldus Ferrariensis and the 1483 Supplementum chronicarum of Jacobus Philippus de Bergamo.
