- Notes: inscribed and signed by white to the robeson jr. family, "To Marilyn & Paul: With our warmest & sincerest love for two beautiful people... Charles - Fran - Ian - Jessica - White, August 4, 1973." In the 1960s, White saw a group of runaway slave posters from the 19th century and was so moved by them that he embarked on a series of oil paintings, from which these lithographs are derived.
