INSCRIBED TO FLOYD DELL LEWIS, SINCLAIR. The Innocents: A Story for Lovers. 8vo, gilt-lettered cloth, soiled and rubbed. New York, (1917)

  • Notes: first edition. inscribed and signed by lewis to floyd dell at the bottom of the humorous "Dedicatory Introduction": "Oh God, that sounds like Floyd Dell! Sinclair Lewis." Among the descriptions of the work, Lewis states in the introduction that this is "a tale for people who still read Dickens and clip out spring poetry and love old people and children." Surely Dell, famed chronicler of radicalism and revolt against convention, got a kick out of that.
