INSCRIBED WITH A DRAWING RIVERA, DIEGO. Portrait of Mexico. Text by Bertram D. Wolfe. Plates after Rivera's paintings. 8vo, cloth, worn. New York, (1937)

  • Notes: inscribed and signed on title with a drawing by rivera of a frog (his nickname was "sapo," or toad) sighing "wonder" and gazing sadly at a bleeding heart labeled "Frida" [Kahlo], pierced by an arrow named "Regina." The sketch is dated 24 April 1937 from San Angel, Mexico. Likely one of Rivera's numerous amours, he writes simply "as a souvenir of our accointance [sic] in Mexico."
