Diary of Private James W. Willox, a member of the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force, with more than 100 tipped-in photographs by him of Baghdad. The photographs primarily depicting local residents, including women, children, prisoners, refugees and men at work, as well as architecture, street scenes, and a few images depicting the soldiers themselves (and at least one self-portrait labeled "Yours Truly"). Early pages contain handwritten diary entries as well as a postcard and a letter addressed to his mother; a notice of Willox's death is laid in. Silver prints, 2 1/2x3 1/2 inches (6.4x8.9 cm.), and smaller, each with Wilcox's caption, in ink. 12mo, leather with a debossed fish motif in white, worn; top edge gilt. 1919
