Letter Signed, "Agustin de Iturbide," as com- mander of the military districts of Guanajuato and Michoacan, to Lieutenant Colonel Jose Maria Esquivel, in Spanish, informing him of the promotion of cav-alry commander Magana, vouching for his loyalty and bravery, and asking Esquivel to give Magana wide-ranging powers against the rebels. 2.5 pages writ-ten in.5 -page wide single columns folded 8vo sheet; very minor staining. Salvatierra, 4 April 1816 E800/1,200 Iturbide (1783-1824) issued the Plan de Iguala in 1821 calling for an indepen-dent Mexican state, emperor of Mexico from 1822-23 known as Agustin I, overthrown by Santa Anna, escaped to Europe but returned in 1824 and was exe-cuted.
