IVAN GOLL Elegy of Ihpetonga. Np, circa 1960. Four lithographs by Picasso, illustrations, some hand-colored. Folio, publisher's wrappers, vertical crease. SIGNED TWICE BY TRANSLATOR LOUISE BOGAN. E600/900 In 1949, Goll wrote ten poems about New York as part of this elegy. The title is derived from the name the Canarsie Indians gave toColumbia Heights: Ihpetonga, meaning high cliffs. This appears to be one of the fascicles from the 1962 Allen Press printing of Goll's FourPoems of the Occult, which was limited to 160 copies.
