JACQUES-HENRI LARTIGUE (1894-1986) Automobile Delage, Grand Prix de l'Automobile-Club de France, Le Tréport, 26 juin 1912.

JACQUES-HENRI LARTIGUE (1894-1986)
Automobile Delage, Grand Prix de l'Automobile-Club de France, Le Tréport, 26 juin 1912. Silver print, the image measuring 6 5/8x9 inches (16.8x23 cm.), the sheet slightly larger, the mount 15x13 inches (38.1x33 cm.), with Lartigue's signature and sunburst motif in ink on mount recto and on the overmat, and the Witkin-Berley stamp with the Print No. 8 and Set. No. 10 in ink on mount verso. 1912; printed 1972

Provenance: From the Estate of Richard T. Rosenthal, Philadelphia

  • Condition: Lartigue's photograph of the racecar is in excellent condition. The print is lush and rich, with deep browns and bright creamy highlights.

Under close examination under strong raking light, the surface of the print doesn't evidence any imperfections, except for a very faint surface impression in the wheel. Hardly noticeable even under raking light.

The mount is also very clean and neat, with his signature, twice.

A fantastic image that embodies the characteristics inherent to Lartigue's work, such as movement, vitality, modernism and beauty.
