Etching and drypoint on thin cream Japan paper, 1858. 120x158 mm; 4 3/4x6 1/4 inches, wide margins. Second state (of 2), with the pattern on the bowl removed. Ex-collection Prandi, Reggio, with the blind stamp lower right (not in Lugt). A superb, richly-inked impression with strong contrasts.
The sitter is Whistler's half-sister Deborah, wife of Francis Seymour Haden.
