Etching and drypoint on antique, cream laid paper, 1859. 75x205 mm; 3x8 1/8 inches, 1/2-inch (full ?) margins. MacDonald's fourth state (of 5), before the corrosion of the plate upper and lower left and before the removal of the diagonal line (formerly a barge) lower left. A superb, early impression, with pentimenti of the shadowy figure holding the pole on the boat at the far right. Kennedy 38; Glasgow 46.
