Born in Florida into a family of artists, Denmark attended Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida on a sports scholarship, where he studied with the artist and art historian Samella Lewis. He moved to New York and earned his Master of Fine Arts Degree at the Pratt Institute of Fine Arts in 1976. Known for his figurative works on paper in collage and watercolor, Denmark has had great commerical success with numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums nationwide.
