"On January 9, 1919, less than two months after the end of WWI, General John Pershing sent letters of invitation to twenty-nine of the allied nations and territories inviting them to compete in the Inter-Allied Games later that year. Eighteen nations eventually accepted the invitation. A new stadium, Pershing Stadium, was built for the games." (http://www.internationalgames.net/interallied.htm) The Inter-Allied Games were a one-off competition that served as both a release from the war and a warm-up for the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp. American soldiers won the majority of events, one of which was the hand grenade throw. This is the English version.
