  • Notes:
In the September 18, 1779 issue of the Virginia Gazette, an announcement from Lieutenant Governor Archibald Blair was published, ordering British loyalists in the state to assemble in Williamsburg on October 11, from whence they would be transported by sea to New York. Empowered by the Act Concerning  Escheats and Forfeitures from British Subjects, the state of Virginia not only expelled British loyalists, it also appropriated any loyalist property found in the state beginning December 6, 1779.
