Pen and brown ink and wash over black chalk on cream laid paper. 160x175 mm; 6 3/8x7 inches. Inscribed "J. Steen f" in ink, lower left. Ex-collection Pieter Langerhuizen (Lugt 2095, verso) and Jacob de Vos (Lugt 1450, verso), both of which were reputed to have included drawings by Steen in their collections.
The current work is related to a lost painting last seen in Oslo in 1942 and known today only from a photograph.
