A remarkably sober and elegant image for a 1928 exhibition in Rotterdam. Almost nothing is known about the artist, but like many Dutch designers, he was clearly influenced by Indonesian graphics, as seen in his rendering of the black bird. He was also a master typographer creating outstanding lettering for this mysterious masterpiece.
