Folio, fourth edition, three parts in one volume, including the first and second volumes bound together; along with A New Relation of the Inner-Part of the Grand Seignor's Seraglio; all works illustrated with text engravings, 30 full-page engravings, and 3 folding engravings; bound in older speckled boards, rebacked (rebacking worn, boards detached); ex libris the Explorer's Club with bookplate and blind embossed stamps; contents generally good); 11 3/4 x 7 3/4 in.

In addition to his trade as a gem merchant and famous purchase of the Hope Diamond in 1666, Tavernier has also left us this voluminous work regarding great swathes of the Middle and Far East with interesting practical and ethnographic information on India, Japan, Persia, Kashmir, and more, featuring detailed notes on coins, currency, stones and gems.
