  • Notes: After passage of the acts admitting Vermont into the Union and establishing the number of its Representatives, the present document represents the first act in which Vermont is referred to as a state. The act declares that the U.S. laws are to take effect for the first time in that state, including those governing the U.S. judicial courts, the U.S. census, the U.S. marshal, and U.S. customs at the Alburgh office on Lake Champlain.
