E1,500/2,500 Built in 1906 and considered one of architect Stanford White's masterpieces, the Madison Square Presbyterian Church was home to Pastor Dr. Charles H. Parkhurst. Dr. Parkhurst was an influential preacher who gained notoriety in the early 1880s by attacking New York City's corrupt Tammany Hall. Upon Parkhurst's retirement in 1918 the church was consolidated with the Old First and University Place Presbyterian Churches to form the First Presbyterian Church of New York. Dr. Parkhurst's church was torn down in 1919 to make way for the Metropolitan Life annex. 17
