E2,000/3,000 "Washington Square Book Shop" * "Vera Black, The Black Parrot Tea Room" * "West Fourth Street, The Pig and Whistle Inn." Jessie Tarbox Beals (1870- 1942), who is often called "the first woman press photographer," originally worked for the "Buffalo Inquirer" and "Buffalo Courier." In1905 she moved to Manhattan and photographed architectural landmarks and social documentary images, among them a wonderful series of Greenwich Village.
