Quarto, updated edition, covering the years 1666-1680; with a few marginal notes and 2 loose sheets inscribed with astronomical calculations and diagrams with text in French dated 1676 &1678 and inserted in the charts for those years; nicely bound in full contemporary speckled sheepskin with gilt-tooled spine (slight splitting along the joint, generally well preserved); very rare at auction, RBH only has results for Hecker's ephemerides of 1662 and 1666; Woldcat lists 6 institutional copies in Europe, no U.S. library holdings; 9 1/4 x 7 in.

Hecker was Hevelius's nephew. His ephemerides was highly prized by German natural philosopher and original member of the Royal Society, Henry Oldenburg (c. 1618-1677), who wrote to Boyle about its superiority. See also lot 246, a book owned by Hecker with his signature on the title page.
