John Rieben

1935-

A is the First Letter of the Alphabet. 1966.

Condition A-: small tears, minor creases and abrasions at edges; minor creases in background. Silkscreen. Paper.

After studying design both in the U.S and in Europe, Rieben joined Container Corporation of America where he became Manager of Design and, later, became Director of Design at UNIMARK International. After holding positions at several other companies and a working as a design consultant for his own private practice, Rieben spent the rest of his career in academia. "Rieben's work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Denver Art Museum, Milwaukee Museum of Art. Vignelli Center, Rochester Institute of Technology, and is included in many design periodicals, annuals and news magazines, as well as corporate identification, typography, trademarks, and marketing publications" (chicagodesignarchive.org).
