This etching represents the back room of Wallace's, a bar popular with the actors and artists of Greenwich Village, at Sixth Avenue and West 4th Street. Notable figures pictured in the etching are Eugene O'Neill (background upper right), Peggy O'Neill, no relation to the former (seated at the table beside Eugene O'Neill), René Lacoste (right center) and Charles Ellis (left foreground).
