JOHN STEINBECK
Group of 4 typed letters each signed by Steinbeck, all extensions on the option agreement for the screenplay for Viva Zapata! (1952). January 1949 to August 1950.
1 page (3) and 3 pages, 8 1/2x11 inches. Some extraneous creases.
Steinbeck began work on the screenplay in June of 1948 soon after his divorce from his second wife. With other things on his mind, work on the screenplay progressed slowly -- necessitating the above extensions -- and would not be completed until the spring of 1951.
All items are offered for sale subject to Swann Galleries' standard terms and conditions of sale, which are published in our catalogues and are posted below.
